Fitness Update

So I think I’m doing something more like the 60 Day Shred rather than the 30 Day Shred, but I’m doing it. This weekend I inexplicably decided to move up to Level Two, mostly out of curiosity. I’m glad I did. Don’t get me wrong — Level Two is hard — but I realize I no longer had that shaky, sweaty, “I’m going to die” feeling at the end of Level One (though I’m nowhere near being able to successfully complete that last strength move). I can just barely get through Level Two, and I have to stop to catch my breath a few times. But it’s good. After doing it the second time I feel fairly sore and wobbly.

The best part is still the continued encouragement to actually get in shape. Phrases like, “results don’t come for free, people!” while being mildly annoying, are successfully motivating me to work out regularly, and also to stop and think before I chomp down another cookie (sometimes I still eat the cookie, but that’s because I really neeeeeed it).

I am still on the lookout for decent running pants (Teresa says to go look at the L.L. Bean Factory Store, but I’m having trouble getting down there with my entourage). I did buy some cute new things from Sierra Trading Post, and that was fairly motivating as well. I got the very excellent Hind Pretty Speedy Wicking Shirt ($4.95!); the New Balance Texturetech T-Shirt in my favorite green color ($13.45); Hind Stretch Performance Running Shorts, which are such perfect running shorts that I’m going to order another pair ($6.25!); and a much needed item: a new sports bra ($19.00). Now if it would stop being bitter and rainy, I could go out for runs and actually sweat (I’ve been looking forward to that since December).

Maybe your mother could help you get to the LL Bean discount store!

Sierra Trading Post! Who knew? I just ordered a pair of running shorts, and they had a whole slew of Overland Equipment bags from back when they were made in the USofA, so I bought one of those too. Now I’m all giddy.

now, do those shorts do the thing that running shorts always do to me: creep up your inner thighs (or sometimes, annoyingly, ONE inner thigh) and look ridiculous bunched in your crotch while the outside remains down and normal? both looking silly and not preventing inner-thigh-chafe? or do they stay put because they’re sort of short? i don’t trust ’em.

however, YEAH sierra trading post. I had to turn off the notifications about sales; for awhile I got more email from them than from anyone. that’s the place to get those smartwools, by the way!

TJMaxx! Great running stuff! I found Adidas, UnderArmour & Puma stuff last spring when I started to run again.

Anne, good find on the Overland Equipment bags! The small Lotus is the bag I use everyday, and it’s really the best one ever. I just ordered a large Lotus to go with my second pair of running shorts.

Em, I haven’t actually run in the shorts yet, but it’s certainly possible they have the inner-thigh-ride-up issue. I just liked that they were comfy and just the right amount of material: not too tight and not too billowy. I’m always confused by the inner liner, though. Does it mean I’m not supposed to wear underwear? We get all our Smartwools (especially kid Smartwools) from Sierra Trading Post.

Sarah, good tip about TJ Maxx. Maybe I’ll get out to there or the L.L. Bean store if my mother continues to lay such a guilt trip on me. 🙂

I got the Large Lotus too! (in avocado/black) I’ve been feeling meh about the Timbuk2 bag I use for work, so I’m going to try out the Large Lotus as my new work bag.

I went for the running shorts with the 5″ inseam in hopes of avoiding the issue Emily describes. We’ll see!

Yup, me too, Large Lotus in avocado/black.

You were the one that introduced me to blogging; sorry to add one
more to your list. A friend and member of my team just sent me
this one. It might be motivating – read while you are eating that
cookie with all of your spare time. Did I spell spare right?
Well, Scott will correct me if I did not. Dudette, it is just a good thing to be moving. Celebrate that. Someone will send you some cool run wear. xo
