War. Death. The Alps.

I’m really looking forward to seeing the story Henry’s thinking of that goes with these chapter titles.

That makes two of us. And why not “the” wilderness? There are so many questions raised by this intriguing list!

I’m thinking “Wildnerness” will be like “Time Passes” from To the Lighthouse. Because this will be a great work.

I know, the crossing out of “the” makes me wonder. It all also made me think of that scene from “Love and Death” where they keep going “Wheat. Wheat. Fields of wheat. So much wheat.”

Christina, you’re right! We were in a house a few weeks ago where they had a TON of art on the walls, and a good portion of it was kid art. It was so inspiring. (The great ideas we can get going to pick up something from Craig’s List!)

Something about the placement of “Another Death” following a series of “The” chapters makes the tone seem very casual. Maybe it’s my connection to “Wilderness”. . .? I may be alone in thinking this, and if anyone disagrees, I’d like to hear an argument. (Not because I disagree, nor is it because I’m looking for an argument; rather, my students’ papers have already exhausted me and I need a healthy distraction . . . and it would still be literary, so I wouldn’t feel guilty).

But, very interesting outline going on. Kudos to you and Dave for encouraging your children in the right directions, Julie.

Death as the story’s bookends – interesting. 🙂 Let us know once it’s fleshed out more!

Henry does so many cool lists etc that it would be amazing to compile them into a cool art project/collage. Love that!!

A WWII book? Or maybe the Magic Mountain. So many possibilities.
