What Will Fat Cat Sit On? is a simple book that is infinitely pleasing to kids. Indeed, what will Fat Cat sit on? He threatens to sit on a variety of animals, who all quake in fear at the thought of being squashed under Fat Cat. Finally, they nervously propose a chair, which pleases the tyrannical Fat Cat. Then watch as they all tiptoe on eggshells wondering what maniacal everyday activity of Fat Cat’s will next ruin their lives.
Henry read this book at school, and then, seeing it in our regular library, burst out with, “Oh! I know that book! It’s HILARIOUS!” He plucked it off the shelf, was able to more or less “read” it in its entirety to Eli, who also deemed it a laff riot. I think it’s cute, definitely, but being older than six I don’t quite get it as deeply as they do. They really love it, and I think they also love that they can memorize it in one reading and then replay the whole joke of it all later, often, by themselves. Your kid will be deeply appreciative if you present him or her with this book.

Julie, is this by the same woman who wrote the book about the Fat Cat? The repeated line in that book is, “Was that cat fat enough? No, he was NOT!” Alessandro loves that book. We have to get it out periodically so he can get his Fat Cat fix.
No, that’s “Drat That Fat Cat” by Pat Thomson, which I have to get out of our library now. It looks great! I guess there’s quite a wide range of corpulent feline chronicles.
This lady also wrote Rhyming Dust Bunies. Totally wonderful fun.
Oh, I don’t know that one. I’ll have to check it out!
