Dig Dig Digging by Margaret Mayo, Illustrated by Alex Ayliffe
Dig Dig Digging is another one of Eli’s transportation-related favorites. I like it because it pretty much covers any type of vehicle Eli might currently be obsessed with. It’s got excellent rhythm and is easily memorizable. The vehicles all are “dig dig digging” or “scrape scrape scraping” or “push push pushing” and they all “can work all day.” It’s such a favorite that it’s yet another one that Eli has chosen to read to you (though there are a few parts where he gives the Reader’s Digest Condensed version and leaves out a line, and he also somehow forgot the entire car transporter page) (but hey, he’s only 2).

I like the special emphasis he gives to the garbage truck.
I found that wift wift wifting!
The garbage truck is probably the most frequent in his world, thus the emphasis. And yes, it’s all quite wifting, non?
