Sarah got me thinking about the books we’ve liked recently. I don’t have time for a full-on review post, but we’ve been loving these (in no particular order):
A Pig Parade is a Terrible Idea by Michael Ian Black
A Tale Dark & Grimm by Adam Gidwitz
Millie Waits for the Mail by Alexander Steffensmeier
Creaky Old House by Linda Ashman
Superhero School by Aaron Reynolds
A Day on Skates by Hilda van Stockum
Oh No (Or How My Science Project Destroyed the World) by Mac Barnett
Big Red Lollipop by Rukhsana Khan
Or maybe it is in a vague order, because I love the first two the best. The Pig Parade one is written in the exact voice I use for telling stories to my kids, and A Tale Dark & Grimm (which is a chapter book) is so deliciously gruesome that Henry and I read it and then went back and reread the juicy parts (separately…I love that now we’re reading the same books but to ourselves, and then we meet informally in the hallway to discuss what we’ve read).
