This has been a fun art installation week for Henry. The day after the tree monkey, Henry did a complex Island of Sodor piece in the living room. The whole Thomas thing comes and goes for him. There will be weeks where he doesn’t pull out the trains at all, and then suddenly train tracks and Thomas stories are all he wants to do. I think the recent Thomas upsurge is from watching a Thomas video during the haircuts.
Henry drew every train he could think of, cut each out meticulously, and taped them all to the living room furniture.
A digger (Jack) on the left. Those of you In the Know will recognize the train on the right as Salty.
A variety of trains, as well as some magical sparkly bits inspired by some Magic Track story we read.
Terrance the Tractor.
Bill and Ben.
Perhaps now would also be a good time to bring up Eli and Henry’s unfun new obsession with tape. I keep putting the tape dispenser higher and higher but they still manage to find it and climb up and get it, and then pull off miles and miles of tape and stick it up everywhere. Or, worse, pull off teeny little pieces that are very time-consuming to unstick from the floor and walls. Or the tape bits get dirty and unstick themselves, but then look horrifyingly like fingernails, and seriously give me a little start each time I find one.
I’m a big fan of Salty and I just love Henry’s interpretation of him. I wonder how he forgot Salty’s tooth though… Hugh’s favorite trains are Bill and Ben so we’re really glad to see them here.
I am also a fan of Salty, though I totally forgot about the tooth. I won’t bring it up…the artist needs to have his own interpretations, I think.
