Perfect little utensils

I love the Let’s Explore blog, and her shop too. Before the last road trip I got some dinosaur and bird rubbing plates as road trip surprises. I will say that those were kind of a bust; the boys just weren’t into them. BUT! As part of some Earth Day special, we got free Bambu Kids’ Utensils with our order, and those have been a huge hit. We love love love them. As you may be aware, we bake fairly often, and these little utensils (there are five of them) are the perfect size. The great thing is, though, that not only are they the perfect size for kids, they’re pretty much just the perfect size for everything. I use them all the time. I like the shorter handles because I feel like I can stir with more gusto, and they take up less drawer space. I’d even go so far to say that they’re pretty. Plus, you know, organically grown bamboo, renewable resource, blah blah blah. I think $16 is a great deal for these. With five of them you have plenty for pretend kitchen play, real kitchen kid stirring, and grownup salad tossing.

Sam has a Bambu utensil that is a fork at one end and a spoon at the other. He reacts with sheer amazement each time I bring it out, as if he’s never seen it before. “A fork! AND a spoon!”

I think I contemplated one of those spoon/fork things but then talked myself out of it (this is how most of my store experiences go these days…I stand there holding something I WANT and then usually end up talking to myself out loud until I remember I’m trying not to buy anything). The spoon/spatula from the utensil set is worth $16 all by itself, though. I’m constantly washing it so I can use it again.
